WHEN and WHERE did such a vehicle was watched for the (probable) very first time? It was reported in written form.
-
Task 18
The most common thing that can be called a draisine, velocipede, or trolley that doesnt have two wheels is a handcar. Hand cars were were used primarily in North America as railway transportation. The US used many different types of handcars and it is uncertain when they were actually invented but they appeared after 1840.
The draisine was invented by Karl von Drais in 1817 in Germany and was the predecessor to the bicycle and often called a velocipede.
Also called velocipedes were tricycles and quadricycles. The Quadricycle was first seen in 1853 in New York.
