Gold to expensive

Looking at your gold prices it seems insane considering everything that you buy is a consumable. Even the best player will end up losing a sub at some point and bang there goes your money. Its not as if you subs that you open are templates that you can have and reuse. I normally happy to buy cash so that it helps with games that I like. But with the thought that its a endless font that needs to be topped up I can't at the present time see me buying gold.

in AoE Online Beta (yes I was also here... :) ) there wasn't gold et similia ...

also ( to you, Ubisoft ..) in your Live Arcade "Spartacus Legends" while the initial equipment was horrid (:P),
then --> weapons, armor and shields first (only purchasable with gold)
could be purchased with the stardard coins (silver)

why here can not be adopted the same policy?

i think the gold system in this game is good, you dont have to buy to play, and as you can earn the gold buy gaining levels and completing missions have been able to buys a few torps while on patrol.. and yes i have had one of my subs rammed by a merchant, it sucks but if you work on it they are eaisly replaceable by working and useing prestiege ... the only way i see you haveing to use gold for is the i want the very best sub/all the toys from level 1 crowd... so no complaints here

I did buy credits too, but only for more pen places into the bunker. For all other material I use only PP. And I don't use PP much below 10'000 as an insurance, in case of a mistake by my part.

Most "BETA" games everything is either free or plentiful when first starting out. Wait til they get all the bug's worked out and the game starts flowing smoothly, thats when things stop being free or plentiful.

And for loosing sub's advice. Don't log off or close your browser before making it back to your home port to grab a replacement sub. If you fail to make it to the home port to grab a replacement your account will get stuck in a loop and your game basically ends at that point. Hopefully they will fix that bug/glitch very soon but atm if you close your browser or log off before replacing your lost sub you will be stuck in a endless back to home page re-log in loop :(

I agree with SheWolf regarding the not logging off or leaving the game until your sub is safe in port.

That being said, I just finally (after a 4 hour wait) got to the main screen of the game, only to find that my login session expired, and had to restart the queue. Not a problem, as my subs are safe and sound, but I have also had the game lock up/crash mid-battle, so losing a sub due to server issues is still a very valid risk.

As for gold; the price for gold is fine, actually better than many other MMO's. The problem with pricing is the premium ships being destructible, and still anywhere from $15 to $60 USD. That is steep, when compared with other MMO's. I, for one, would recommend a drop in price on the premium subs if there is any desire to actually make sales on them; I for one will NOT drop that kind of cash on something that can (and, when paired with server issues, will) be destroyed.

I would purchase this game, spend a monthly subscription to this game, but I am not going to spend money on the same things I just bought a day ago, but lost due to unfortunate circumstances. If you purchased something other than basic consumables, that purchase should still be there ready to be downloaded onto your sub again. Or progress saved each time you enter port.

If I go out in my upgraded sub that I upgraded with real money or prestige points, and the server locks up, my cable goes out, and something happens, it's game over and money gone. What if I'm in a wolfpack in multiplayer, and another player just for fun decides to crash into me? Game over, spend more money? No, I don't think so.

There's plenty of money to be made by people who don't want to wait and are willing to spend money to speed things up. From people who like shiney things. From people who don't want to wait until they have enough prestige and want a certain upgrades right away. From people who want bigger inventory slots or bunker slots, or more avatars. There are a number of ways to make money, without making the game a money pit.
