You know, this is a game, not real life. If you want players to spend money and keep playing, you can't be single minded. If I was living on a sub, and decided to crash into land, then I could understand "it's your stupidity, live with the loss". But what about those with real lives. A wife, kids, a job, and many other real life stuff that still goes on while a person is playing.

So, you're telling me that if you're playing, and let's say your monitor goes out, and even tho you realized the dog only knocked the plug out, by the time you got back it was too late, you got spotted and sunk.

Or, while you were playing your boss called and needed your full attention. You keep the game on in the background thinking it would be a quick conversation being that it's Sunday, but before you know it, that little bit of attention that he took you away from the game, ruined the carefully laid out plan you originally laid out, and you got sunk.

How about the batteries died on your mouse just as you needed to dive to attack. Instead you didn't dive, were spotted, and yup, you can guess the rest.

I can think of hundreds of other scenarios. Will they all be by stupidity? Some, yes. Some no. I can just see all the emails now with the excuses, complaints, and stories about why people want their stuff back. Who decides if Joe has a good enough reason because his kid pushed the mouse button to fire his torpedo when he turned his back for a second. Who's excuses or stories will work and who's won't? Real life does happen, even for those real hard core gamers. Something will happen, then you'll be the one complaining and asking for your stuff back.

You need to take all possible factors into account, before you say "if you lose your boat by stupidity, you must live with the loss". Maybe real life is stupid to you, but I'm sure the majority of people would disagree.

By the way, I lost my sub (and my upgraded sonar operator) when I dove my sub, but my periscope switches were backwards (a glitch), and I couldn't switch it fast enough because the periscope finite switch was locked up and in some kind of loop, which froze my screen. A few mins later a merchant hit my periscope. In beta especially, this shouldn't happen.

the general question with any microtransaction game is "how much is my time worth" . for example i was out at sea and i missed the last tanker in a convoy with my last torpedo I'd already spent some TCP and fuel to rearm atleast once and it took me time to get back into position , i could have gone back to base and re armed for a third attack but that would be another 10 minutes wasted repositioning , rearming, tcp spent going back n forth , burning fuel. or I could buy a 12 gold torpedo and put the sucker on the bottom. would i spend the best part of £40 buying a type VII i can achieve for free? considering I've played for two weeks so far and doing rather well I've only just unlocked the first components for the type VIIa , it could easily be another few days/weeks before i've grinded the needed levels and PP to construct my first one , not to mention the time to build it/spent waiting for deliveries from depot.

Any credit transaction is a matter of saving yourself time , if like me you value your time but with limited funds and also have the required patience to achieve goals under your own steam then yes buying a credit/gold item is expensive way to go. if you have alot of free cash don't like waiting and want to get stuck in with the best goods from day 1 then you would view it as a convenience purchase and think little of it. Now the downside to this is the fact that subs are destructible , but you know this before you buy it , its called informed purchase you know that if you are not careful or some unfortunate accident occurs that unless it is a verifiable game glitch you're money goes to play with davy jones but at the same time this creates an economy as there are people who would simply buy another one , or would nurse the burn and unlock one the regular way being extra careful. which inturn means more people playing missions at the same time , more wolfpacks and a more lively game atmosphere.

I know how much my time is worth and I base my purchases on that principle , i will contribute cash to this game on the basis that what i am getting is value for my money . aslong as everyone follows that principle you will see buyer power in action , if sales of gold are not so good the price will change to cater for it. wallets speak louder than words.

I would never spend this much money on a sub that might sink 5 mins after i bought it and see my RL cash go away that way.
Consumable is ok or to buy a blueprint to be able to construct an u-boat, but not like this.
