Fuel Usage - don't jump too far

Sometimes, w,e as captains, have questions about how far we can go or if we can get to/from MO that is a far distance. I've done this and it's provided me with valuable info for this dilemma. 1) Exit port; 2) Set course; 3) Press skip course; 4) Find total one way fuel consumption. If this more than 45 % of your total fuel on board then you may run empty given consumption during MO. If you get stuck in the deep because you forgot to do this, you'll have two options: 1) Allow your sub to be towed back to port (this takes 24 hours), or, 2) spend gold and replenish fuel at sea. Very good point, and one that is actually quite obvious really, don't travel more than half distance (best some less as above) as the fuel allows you to, as can be seen when you calculate the skip.

If not too far from port if had made this error, it can be resolved by travelling submerged on batteries until very low, then making a short skip to recharge them (repeat as required) monitor this action on Global map as time runs 16x there.

If you have a snorkel (operationally of no practical use except for training Engineer Officer) you can recharge batteries even without diesel engines running, I have discovered when training Eng Officer...

If doing this ALWAYS switch to Home Waters so will be more unlikely to be attacked by 'planes (good practice to do same after finishing a mission AND when leaving port too, and by habit send Flak crew...).
