i think the only 2 options u have when your sub is destroyed: to pay with gold (real money) or to abandon the sub permanently - it;s total bullshit .

loosing a sub, u played for a long time and payed with prestige (an event that will be quite frequent) forever, it's devastating. we should be able to recover it with prestige - payable in an unlimited amount of time after. so we can play with other subs (or the auxiliary one) for a time to be able to get the prestige to redeem our leveled up sub.

getting the auxiliary typeIIA as a replacement and having to start from scratch, makes me abandon the game really fast.
Have you ever, and I mean EVER, played any of the other Silent Hunter Series. You know when you lose in those games, you lost everything. You game would end and you would have to start a new one. yes you can reload a save.... but the submariners of WWII couldnt just hit the reset button. It is called a simulation for a reason.

"No. Sorry. That's it for me. I recognize a blatant money making mechanic when I see one."
The only money making mechanic that I see is to have it instantly or early. You points have no validity. Good job.

Everyone understands that dying should equal losing stuff. What's wrong with this game currently is that there's no logical system in place to help the player rebuild. Lost the Type IIAs you start with? Sorry, you're stuck in the auxiliary sub now until at least level 9. The way the game is set up now, if you lose your starting subs, you actually can't build another sub until you're far enough along to build a Type IIC. After losing everything and slowly saving up prestige to get new officers, crew, sub parts, etc. myself, I have a few suggestions that I think would help immensely:

    1) The game needs to make building a Type II A and Type II B possible before you're able to build a Type II C. This is critical for low level players and it's only logical since the current system leaves out the Type II B entirely. Maybe make a full set of components that can only be used on the Type IIA and allow them to be purchased for prestige from level 1. This way if a new player wrecks all of his/her subs, at least it's possible to build a new Type IIA. Then the auxiliary sub would be a means of getting enough prestige to build a sub, rather than a prison until you reach level 9. I was not able to build anything and could only use the auxiliary sub until level 9, which is a long ass time to be stuck in the auxiliary sub. Type IIB and up would work as normal, but do something to make a Type IIB buildable before the Type IIC is buildable.
    2) Add a level 0 officer package to the store available for a low prestige price. You're already losing all of your XP. Maybe even make this free if the game sees that the player currently has no officers.
    3) Make it so the AA gun is not mandatory to build a Type IIA (after all the sub the player starts the game with doesn't have one).
    4) Add a "Recruits Type II A full package" to the store available for prestige for convenience sake.

Hi, while I can not disagree with some of what you have said, I would like to clear up a couple of things.

You do NOT need a flak gun to build a type II A or B, although there is the option to add one. But as you say you need to be level 9 to unlock it.

Also have you read this. It is unlikely that we will get any updates to the game in the near future.

You mean at level 9 the flak gun is optional, but at level 8 and earlier it's mandatory? Insanity.

Thanks for the link. I hadn't seen that.

    Sorry you miss understand me.

You do not need a flak gun to build a Type II A or B.

You can build a type IIB at level one.

I see. They changed it at some point. It was not possible when I tried it months ago. That's definitely a welcome change then.

It is understandable that i lose my sub if, for say, i make an error. However, when i am being depth charged by a sloop just because my torpedo exploded early, that is just plain stupid. It was not my problem that the torpedo exploded early........

    Moin Moin ,

It is sad that your boat was lost. but.....

That's the game, and we all learned to live with it. one must always expect prematurely exploding Aalen.
The experience in the German Rudel has shown that when many players are in the pack that rate rising early dynamos.

if need be, take a free auxiliary boat and start new again at. Do the scout missions and build later a new large boat.

At the point were already of us.

    Sorry for your loss.

But, you made some minor mistakes:
    - You didn't sink the sloop.
    - You didn't evade the sloop.
    - You didn't take the possible failure of the torpedo into account.
